Buongiorno a tutti!

This one is for all the spicy food lovers out there — it's a hot arrabbiata sauce! For those that don't know, "arrabbiata" means "angry" which in this case refers to the spiciness of the sauce.  This is a pretty easy sauce to throw together, and it's super flavorful so it's a great option for the next time you're craving red sauce!  This recipe will make about six servings and will take about 30 minutes to prepare.

What you'll need:
  • 2 cans peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh basil
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Step 1: In a large saucepan, saute onion and garlic in oil over medium heat until onions are tender.

Step 2: Add in tomato paste, lemon juice, tomatoes, seasoning, red pepper flakes, basil, sugar and wine and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: Add in parsley and pour over the pasta of your choice!

Buon appetito!
