Buongiorno!

Summer is still in full swing and maybe you have plans to take a beautiful trip to Italy!  We wanted to put together a couple travel posts of cool places to see and things to do in a few major Italian cities you might be visiting.  Venice is definitely on the list of places we love, so today we're bringing you five points of interest if this beautiful city is in your travel plans!

1. Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square)

This is the main square in Venice and holds the Basilica di San Marco.  There are cafes, restaurants and a few shops and it's the only real piazza in the whole city. The basilica is really something to see.  There are four stunning bronze horses that guard it's entrance and thousands of square feet of mosaics inside.

2. Il Campanile di San Marco

This bell tower is a 20th century replica of the original where Galileo first presented his telescope.  It costs about 8 euros to walk or take the elevator to the top, and it is a beautiful view of the city.

3. Grand Canal

The two mile long Grand Canal is the main waterway through the city.  You can watch gondolas go by, or take a ride on one yourself (note that it's not cheap!) and take in the sights of the city.  Seeing the canal alone is truly an incredible sight.

4. Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge)

This bridge is made entirely of marble and was once the only way to cross the Grand Canal.  It's considered an engineering marvel and has stunning fine detail that you can see from walking over it or taking a gondola ride below it.

5. Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace)

This palace is also located in Piazza San Marco and is an architectural staple of the city.  It was once the government and justice center of Venice.  It is now a museum and you can take a number of tours inside.

Do any of you guys have plans to go to Venice?

A presto!
