Today's dish is a very basic sauce, but a classic and loved one by all— meat sauce. Spaghetti and meat sauce is a traditional, staple meal, but there are ways you can perfect this rich sauce by using high quality ingredients and taking an extra minute to prepare it with care. In our opinion, this is a perfect dish for any time of the year and for the whole family. Let's get to it!
What you'll need:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 6 oz. can tomato paste
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- one small bell pepper, chopped - color of your choosing
- 1 tbsp. dried basil
- 1 tbsp. dried oregano
- one can of diced tomatoes (or about 4 fresh diced tomatoes)
- 1 can tomato sauce
- salt and pepper
- extra virgin olive oil
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, sautee your minced garlic first, and add your beef, pepper, and garlic. Cook until meat is browned.
Add in your tomato paste, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt and pepper and mix together. Let your sauce simmer for about an hour, checking and stirring every 20 minutes or so.
Prepare your pasta and serve with fresh grated cheese. Buon appetito!
